Donald R. Allen, DDS, MS PeriodontistDr. Donald R. Allen is a board certified Periodontist and has been a member of The Metropolitan Dental Specialty Group for approximately 12 years. Dr. Allen received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee. After matriculating through Fisk University, he enrolled in Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree. After earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree, Dr. Allen completed his General Practice Residency at the Veterans Administration Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. He then completed a one-year internship in Oral Surgery at the Homer G. Phillips Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. It was during this time that Dr. Allen developed an interest in the field of Periodontology. He then traveled to Ann Arbor, Michigan where he earned a Master’s of Science Degree in the specialty of Periodontics from the University of Michigan, Rackham School of Graduate Studies. Dr. Allen returned to St. Louis, Missouri where he engaged in the private practice of Periodontics for five years. He was later recruited by the United States Air Force Dental Corp and served his country for three years. Upon separation from the United States Air Force, Dr. Allen joined the Dental Faculty at Howard University College of Dentistry and practiced privately part-time. Presently Dr. Allen is Chairman of the Department of Periodontics at Howard University College of Dentistry, actively attends and participates in his church and continues to practice with Metropolitan Dental Specialty Group. |
