Best nutrition for healthy teeth

Posted on 2/7/2022 by Evan
Best nutrition for healthy teethThe food should be rich in fiber, fruits, and vegetables. The fiber helps keep the gum and teeth clean saliva also flows; after taking food rich in starch, saliva reduces the effects of enzymes and acid attacking the teeth. Saliva also has phosphates which restore minerals. Other meals should be incorporated into the diet.

What you should include in your diet

Dairy products, for example, cheese, helps in making saliva, milk, and yogurt contain phosphate and calcium, which strengthens the enamel. Black and green teas contain polyphenols that interact with plaque bacteria preventing bacteria and making acid that attacks the teeth. The substances either kill or hold back the bacteria. Drinking water or products which are fluoridated helps in preventing bacteria. Juices also should contain fluorine.

The food should be rich in calcium; however, the body cannot absorb it without enough vitamin D; a fatty fish like salmon has plenty of vitamin D allowing the gum and teeth to have maximum disease resistance. Fish like tofu has phosphorus which protects the enamel.

Citrus fruit the vitamin C in oranges strengthens the connective tissues and blood vessels, slowing down the progression of gum diseases and reducing inflammation. The water levels in the mouth should be optimum as it helps in the breakdown of food, and the bacterial acid is neutralized and reduces plaque. Water also keeps the body dehydrated; thus, the distribution of nutrients removes waste and keeps muscles in motion always. Water also removes particles and maintains high saliva levels. Water also helps neutralize and balance bacteria in the mouth, reducing acidity, thereby preventing buildup that will cause cavities, gingivitis, decay, and other oral problems.

The right diet goes a long way in ensuring you maintain a healthy mouth and preventing dental complications. Regularly consulting a professional dental expert can help you prevent further damage.
