Questions to Ask When You Make an Appointment with Us

Questions to Ask When You Make an Appointment with UsIf you want to make an appointment with us, it's as easy as pie. Just give us a call and let us know the date and time you want to come. We will try to schedule as close to the time you want as [possible. When you call to schedule, let us know if this is just a cleaning and annual check-up or if you have a problem.

This helps us with our scheduling because the amount of time we set aside for your appointment will be determined by the reason for your visit. If you are a new patient, please let us know that as well.

What Else Should I Say When I Call?

There are questions you should probably ask when you call for an appointment, particularly if you are a new patient. New patients should ask if we need your dental records. If you don't have them or cannot get them by the time of your appointment, we will request them, but we would need you to sign an authorization form.

Ask about our payment policy. It is important to know if you need to pay up front. If you are having an annual or semi-annual exam, we can tell you the exact cost. If you think you have a problem, we can only tell you how much certain services are.

If you think you need extensive work, you should ask if financing is available. Obviously, we would not be able to predict the cost of an unknown service. We could tell you how much we charge for specific procedures or solutions like crowns or fillings. We can tell you how much a root canal cost, but without actually seeing your teeth, we cannot tell you how much your bill would be.

A very important question to ask is about insurance. First, you should ask if we take dental insurance. Then you should let us know what kind of insurance you have, and we can let you know whether we work with that insurance company or not. If we do not, you can then decide if you still want the appointment or if you would prefer to find an in-network dentist.

If you have a procedure that must be performed and you are scheduling the procedure, you should ask if there is anything special you should do. For example, if you are getting anesthesia should you fast at all. Don't hesitate to ask because it saves time in the long run.
